Review file activity in the Files inbox
Find file notices, open the related work, and manage read or unread status.
The Files navigation calls this area Inbox. The page title is File Activity. Use it to review file notices and open the related work.
What do you need before you start?
- The Files inbox is available to team members.
- Activity follows your account and file access.
- Your settings decide which file events send you a notice.
How do you find file activity?
- Open Files in the main navigation.
- Choose Inbox.
- Open Filter and choose All activity or Only unread.
- Choose an account when you want to limit the feed. Keep All accounts to review the full feed.
The feed loads more activity as you scroll. Your account and unread choices stay in place while you review the list.
What happens when you open an activity item?
Select an item to open its file. A comment notice can open the comments panel and related comment. A version notice can open the version panel and related version.
Opening the destination marks that activity item as read. Browser Back returns to the feed without losing your place.
An old notice may remain after its file or account is no longer available. The item cannot open content that you no longer have access to.
How do you mark selected items read or unread?
- Choose Select.
- Select individual items, or select all activity currently loaded in the feed.
- Choose Mark as read or Mark as unread.
- Choose Cancel to leave selection mode without changing more items.
You can select up to 100 activity items at a time. A mixed selection can offer both read and unread actions.
What does Mark all as read change?
The Mark all as read action appears in the Only unread view. It changes all unread file activity in the current account filter.
With All accounts selected, the action changes unread file activity from all accounts you can access. It does not change Task activity or other notice types.
What does your client see?
The Files inbox is team-only. Read or unread status helps you track what needs your attention. It does not change the file or send a client message.
How do you fix a common problem?
An expected notice is missing: switch to All activity and clear the account filter. Then check your file notice settings. A file event may not alert every team member.
An item no longer opens: the file, comment, version, or account may no longer be available. Open the account's Files area to check the current item.
Mark all as read is unavailable: switch to Only unread. The action is disabled when no unread file activity remains in the current account filter.
