Upload, organize, and download files
Add files, create folders, move work into place, and download what you need.
Use the Files browser to keep client work in folders. Team members can manage files. A client can manage a folder only when they have Full Access to it.
What do you need before you start?
- Open the client account's root Files area or the folder where the files belong.
- Do not start from Recent, Starred, or Deliverables. Uploads are not available in those views.
- A client can upload at the account's root Files level. Inside a folder, the client needs Full Access. View Only allows viewing and downloading, but not uploading or organizing.
- Keep each upload at 100 files or fewer and each file at 2.1 GB or less.
How do you upload files?
- Open the folder that should hold the files.
- Choose Upload Files.
- Browse for files or drag them into the uploader.
- Wait for every upload to finish before you leave the page.
You can choose files from a folder on your computer. Sydnee uploads the selected files into the open Sydnee folder. It does not rebuild the computer's folder tree.
Check upload limits and supported behavior.
How do you create or rename a folder?
To create a folder, open its parent folder, choose New Folder, enter a name, and choose Create Folder.
To rename a file or folder, open its menu, choose the rename action, and save the new name. Use short names that tell people what the item contains.
How do you move files or folders?
- Select the item or items you want to move.
- Choose the move action.
- Pick the destination folder.
- Confirm the move.
The item's access can change after a move because the new parent folder's rules apply.
How do you download files?
Open a file and choose Download, or use its menu. You can also select several files and download them together as an archive. Downloading a folder prepares its contents as an archive.
Large folders may take time to prepare. Keep the page open until the download starts.
What happens next?
The upload appears in the open folder. Supported images, PDFs, videos, and audio can open in the viewer. Other file types can still be stored and downloaded.
What does your client see?
A client sees only folders allowed for their account user. Full Access lets them manage files in that folder. View Only lets them open and download. Hidden content does not appear.
How do you fix a common problem?
Upload is not available: leave Recent, Starred, or Deliverables and open the account's root Files area or a regular folder. If a client cannot upload inside a folder, check that they have Full Access.
A move changed who can see the file: check the new folder and every folder above it. A more strict parent wins.
A download will not start: try one file first. Then check your browser's download permission and network connection.
