Better Task Reminders and Video Previews

Connor BearsePublished

This update covers the past two weeks of improvements to everyday work in Sydnee. You can now set an assignee reminder for a task due later today. We also improved video playback, task view switching, and how comments and reactions stay up to date.

Set a reminder for a task due later today

If a task is due at 3 PM today, you can now add an On Due Date reminder while that time is still ahead. Previously, the reminder controls could disappear as soon as the due date became today, even when the task had hours left.

Open an assigned task with a future due time, find Reminders, and choose Create assignee reminder. The reminder is an email to the assignee.

This change applies to tasks with a set due time. All-day tasks keep their existing reminder rules.

Keep your place in video previews

Refreshing file details while a video is open no longer restarts playback of the same video. You can keep reviewing the clip while its details update.

We also improved recovery after a long pause or browser sleep. If the video needs a fresh playback link, Sydnee tries to reload it and restore your position, playback speed, and volume. Your browser may still ask you to press Play again.

Switch task views with less jumping around

Moving between a task board's Table, Board, Calendar, and Overview views is smoother. We reduced flashes of the previous view and made loading layouts better match the task list or board that follows.

Reloading a link to a specific task view also opens that view without briefly showing a different selection. These improvements apply to both the team workspace and client portal.

See your saved reactions when you reopen a conversation

We fixed cases where reopening a task or file comment could briefly show an older reaction selection. Confirmed additions and removals now stay consistent as you move between the conversation and its activity notices.

A steadier Unread Activity widget

The expanded Unread Activity widget now keeps a consistent height as notices load, so the dashboard around it stays put. We also corrected unread-count cases involving work that is no longer available.

We’ve also made a number of security improvements behind the scenes. We’re preparing to launch our Trust Center and will share more when it’s ready.
