Create a request

Create a client Request, choose its audience, and save the first draft.

Create a Request when you need a client to send answers, files, or a signature through their portal.

Before you start

  • You need team access to the client account.
  • The account needs at least one active portal member unless you choose Open to all.
  • You need a title. A Request cannot be created without one.

Create the draft

  1. Open Requests.
  2. Select Collect Info.
  3. Under Audience, choose one client contact or choose Open to all for the account.
  4. To add more named people, select Assign more people.
  5. Choose Build New, Choose Template, or AI Builder.
  6. Enter a Title. The client will see this as the Request name.
  7. Add an Intro Message if the client needs more context.
  8. Turn on Private request only if one selected person should be able to open it.
  9. Select Create Request.

Sydnee saves the Request as a draft and opens the builder.

Build the form

Drag fields from the left panel into the form. Select a field to change its title, help text, choices, required setting, or other options.

Add at least one field. The Next button stays off when the form is empty.

See Choose a request field type for all 14 builder items.

What your client sees

The client sees nothing while the Request is a draft. A scheduled Request also stays hidden until its publish time.

After the Request is published, the client sees its title, intro, visible questions, progress, and due date in the portal.

Why can't I edit a Request?

  • A completed Request cannot be edited. Open its actions and select Reopen first.
  • You may not have access to the Request's client account.
  • The Request may have been deleted.
  • A missing or changed assignee can stop the basics form from saving. Choose an active portal member again.

Published and scheduled Requests can be edited. Changes affect the live or scheduled form, so preview it again after an edit.
