If you’re new to Sydnee Client Portals, this guide shows how to invite your first client and prepare their access.
Whether you’re a freelancer, agency, or small business owner, a smooth onboarding process sets the tone for a great working relationship.
In this guide, we’ll walk through how to invite clients, manage their account access, and add team members for workspace collaboration. For the complete current workflow, see invite clients and manage access.
This guide is based off of our YouTube video if you would rather check that out below!
Step 1: Go to Portal Access
From your Sydnee dashboard, navigate to Portal Access.
This is your control center for managing who can log into your portal.
Select Add to portal, then Invite a client, and fill in your client’s:
- Email address
- Name
You can also customize the welcome email so it feels personal and professional.
Step 2: Send the Invite
Once the details are ready, leave Notify them by email on and select Send Invite. Your client will receive an email with access to the portal.
✅ Pro Tip: Send a quick personalized note in the invite message to set expectations and let them know what they’ll find when they log in.
Step 3: Add Team Members (Optional)
If you work with other collaborators who need backend access, you can add them as team members.
- Team members have different permissions from clients
- Perfect for designers, developers, or assistants who help manage client work
For someone who is already on your Sydnee team, select Add to portal, then Add a team member, and choose the teammate who needs access to this account. Invite new teammates through Team before adding them to a client account. The team roles guide explains workspace permissions.
Step 4: Resend the Invite (If Needed)
If your client misplaces the original email, open their actions under Clients in Portal access and select Resend invite email. This sends the current portal invitation again.
Step 5: Prepare Your Portal Before Access
Before inviting your client, make sure your portal is ready for them. This may include:
- Uploading initial files or documents
- Setting up tasks or project timelines
- Customizing branding and colors
The goal is to have everything polished so your client’s first impression is seamless.
