Duplicate or bulk-create client accounts
Copy a proven account setup or add up to 20 new client accounts in one batch.
Duplicate one account when you want to reuse its setup. Use bulk creation when you need many empty client accounts at once.
Duplicate an account
Only a company owner or admin can duplicate an account. The owner or admin must also have access to the source account.
- Open the Sydnee home page.
- Open the source account's options menu.
- Select Duplicate Account.
- Check the New account name.
- Under Modules to copy, turn each part on or off.
- Select Duplicate account.
The progress window shows the current step. A large account can take a few minutes. You can close the window and reopen Duplicate Account to see the same job.
When the copy is ready, Sydnee opens the new account.
What is copied
Branding and account-level settings are always copied.
These choices are on by default:
- Dashboard: Memo Pad content and widget layout
- Files: current files, folders, Deliverables, and folder access rules
- Tasks: sections, collaborators, reminders, and attachments
- Service showcase: status, details, order, and assignee changes
- Custom pages (embeds): account pages and their order
These choices are off by default:
- Team members
- Client access (portal members)
Turn on people only when they should also have access to the new account.
The copy does not include Requests, Task comments, File comments, File history, Account activity, or Event history. Files and Task attachments that are no longer in storage are skipped.
Bulk-create accounts
- Select New Account.
- Select Bulk Add.
- Enter a Business Name for each client.
- To add client access now, select Add Clients and enter each client's name and email.
- Review every highlighted error.
- Select Create accounts. The button shows the number that will be created.
You can create up to 20 accounts in one batch. You can add up to 10 clients to each account.
Bulk creation grants access to the client emails you add, but it does not send an invitation email. Open each account's Portal access screen and resend the invite when the portal is ready.
What happens when part of a batch fails
Sydnee may create valid accounts even when another account or client has a problem. Failed fields stay highlighted in the bulk form, but successful rows may stay in the form too.
- If an account name failed, the account was not created. Remove any successful account rows from the form, fix the failed row, and submit again.
- If a client failed, the account was created without that client. Do not submit that account row again. Open the new account and add the client from Portal access.
Check the account list before you try again. Submitting a successful account row again can create a second account with the same business name.
What your client sees
Duplicating with Client access (portal members) on lets those clients choose the new account after sign-in. If it is off, no client is copied.
Bulk-created clients get account access. They still need the portal URL or an invitation email before they know where to sign in.
Fix a common problem
Duplicate Account is unavailable
Only a company owner or admin can duplicate accounts. If you have one of those roles, reload the account list. Duplication also needs the account's current ID. If the action stays unavailable, contact support with the account name.
Progress cannot refresh
Select Retry progress check. If Sydnee says the job is no longer available, close the progress view and start a new duplicate.
